Eastern Partnership Event NREN report
CEENGINE is proud to announce Eastern Partnership Event report - a result of the workshop held in Bucharest in December 2011.
The Eastern Europe Partnership Event was hosted by the National Authority for Scientific Research of Romania in collaboration with RoEduNet and the EC-funded projects SEERA-EI, GÉANT, HP-SEE and CEENGINE. The event provided an opportunity for stakeholders of e-Infrastructures in Eastern Europe, Western Balkans, South Caucasus and central Asia to meet and promote better international visibility.
The most important workshop recommendations include:
- No researchers from Eastern European countries should be left out of global science due to a lack of e-Infrastructure.
- Countries building-up their e-Infrastructures are urged to integrate the acquisition of rights for a nation-wide dark fibre backbone as a national priority
- The CEENGINE FP7 project identifies novel policies, services and user communities that can play a transformative role in assisting some CEENet members evolving to e-Infrastructure providers with special emphasis on supporting and developing e-Science applications
What is CEENGINE?CEENGINE project aims at enforcing ad stimulating Central and Eastern European Networking Association (CEENet) activities related to the creation, incubation and development of National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) inCentral, Eastern, Southern Europe and Central Asia. With the support of EU in the form of CEENGINE project, it is expected that the Association engages more intensively and aggressively in supporting and developing NRENs in the areas which are both complementary to and enabling towards GEANT3. |
